@Frost the useless one Yeah but also Shogun Ceanataur and Nargacuga in GU are Apex level but they are in the mid-game. Using the stars works better IMO since theese two monster where changed from 5 star to 4 because of that and also this way there is a diffence between mid-game monsters and early game ones since there is an abyssal difference between mid-game monsters like Najarala and early game ones like G. Jagras, also since mid-game monsters equipment are viable in endgame /postgame and sometime even meta (Copper Blangonga LS in FU was meta for example) so are more "useful" when taking in consideration skills for armor set. (Not that I care since I always fashion hunt, but making mixed sets is part of the postgame content)

There are 5 treath levels in mh: 1 basic low/mid tier monsters like jagras or najarala 2 apexes, like rathalos or lagiacrus 3 elder dragons/ elder level like teostra or rajang 4 tier 2 elders/ tier 2 elder levels, like safi or akantor 5 max level treath (black dragons) wicha are only 5 counting subspecies, fatalis, crimson fatalis, white fatalis, alatreon and dire miralis 4 and 5 are always final bosses

@Sunbro Solaire it's a 5 star danger monster in the hunter notes. Higher than that there are only Elder Dragons (and elder level monsters obviosly). It's more early endgame than mid endgame (it even has rarity 3 weapons in low rank like hoe usually final bosses have). Late midgame is more something like Najarala

Long time series fan here, played the demo and hated how casual this series has become. I know this won't mean much to newer fans but this is no longer the series I fell in love with. I will not be buying this or any future MH game until it stops being casual. I know Capcom won't see this or care. Nor will it change anything and future entries are probably going to remain the same. But to anyone else who feels the same way, you are not alone.

They get worse every release (other than quality of life) and the core design of the games has been bothering me for some time now, World was just the final nail in the coffin for me. Time to move on to another series I guess.

@Fuhreak Base World is boring, i can agree on that but Iceborne made it a far more fun and at some points, challenging game. I do like them combining the old style of more arena like areas, uniqueness in the weapons and monsters while having quality of life improvments like seeing the amount of sharpness I have and the ability to dodge backwards. I even feel like the wirebug had great potential in evading whatever the endgame level monsters can be. Then again, its your switch and i can't force you to buy it.

@Donkilla28 I understand what you mean, but Rise just looks like more of World, and World was boring. Hope you understand why I'm concerned about the future of Monster Hunter. I'm not one to turn down gifts, but that's the only way I'll play this game, I'm not about to spend my money on this and since it's on switch, trying it out on the high seas isn't possible.

You can bet there WON'T be underwater fights anymore at all. And fighting Lagi on land only just doesn't feel the same. But I know what you mean, Lagi is awesome and his lightning gear looks so cool, much cooler than Khezu >.

With the popularity of the series now there are so many newer fans who want to go back to those classic games and experience the history of the franchise! Fans may find it appalling the need to relearn the old mechanics after getting used to the new ones. I don’t think Capcom will do that, given that they’ve improved the QoL so much starting from gen 5. Capcom always strives to improve new games from previous ones and it seems counterintuitive to port previous games..

I didn't had any issues. But I heard there is a bug where its stuttering when you got more than 50 friends in your friendslist. A weird bug for sure, but I doubt most ppl got that many friends on the Switch.

Í played the Demo so far it looks very promising the graphic is really ok for the Switch i thought it would look a lot worse but i still hope they will make up for the graphic decline by adding more maps and monsters than world + iceborne i´m really looking forward to this game the line up so far looks pretty nice i hope more fan favorites will be added some we missed out on Iceborne too the best update from iceborne for me though are the layered armors for your buddys XD it was the biggest upset for me that we didn´t get layered armors for palicos in Iceborne -.- Pro: - the wirebug adds some pretty cool options for fighting monsters but so far i don´t find it very useful outside of battles - Palamute riding is so much fun! - the world movesets return even the updated versions from iceborne that makes it pretty easy to jump from world to Rise - palamute and palico get layered armors! - the character now speaks in full sentences instead of just grunts and screams - the armors so far and the weapon designs look very cool! - the endemic life bugs are really useful and make exploring more important - wyern riding is a nice update to the mounting feature in world and extremely useful when fighting more than one monster contra: - the graphics... a big decline from the wonderful looking world but that was expecting and i admit it looks pretty ok for switch standards - maybe it´s just me but it feels like the monsters look way smaller now and not as intimidating as in World - the way you switch through your items is extremely annoying especially in battle -.- undecided: - the new navigation system is easier than in world it´s straight up just an arrow that guides you to your destination but it also destroys the immersion and just looks out of place in a game like that

@CathyCatsville I tested something out. I got 2 news for you: First of, we are both right. Okay, the thing is, in the old games you had to push L and then press Y or A to navigate between items. (I guess that's what you meant, but you mixed up the buttons.) I played over 1300h with that controls, and I just tried out what you said. I had no idea you can navigate with the d-pad between items. In World boths works, the old way and the new way. Second, you can change it in the menus, so that the D-Pad navigates through the items. So I guess you can play the way you are used to. In fact, there are a ton of options you have in Rise and World. For examble, I didn't like the radial menu in World, so I turned it off, for over 1000 hours. I didn't try it out until they added Alatreon. Now I kinda like it. Or you can change the "confirm" and "decline" button. You know, A and B. I play World with the Switch Pro Controller, and that's why I switched that around, so I can play World like it was on a Nintendo platform. Same thing is still possible in Rise, for people may come from World and don't wanna get used to the opposite inputs. Anyhow, there are tons of options that might help you out to get Rise more to your personal taste when it comes to controls and such. You should give it a closer look. The demo also saves your adjustments. In the Beta of MHW, you had to change your options each time you started it again. So that's also small plus.

@Smexbi ok didn´t know that about the arrow i never played a MH demo before the item switch is not at all like it was in world in world you switch between your items with left and right and use one button to use the item in Rise you have to hold down the L-Button switch your items with the Y and X button until you get to the item you want then release the L button so you can finally use the item with the B-Button

The arrow won't be in the final game. That's just something they put in the demo to show beginners where to go, it was the same way in the older game demos. In the final game you need to navigate yourself, but it won't be that hard, since you can technicly go anywhere just by climbing over mountains and stuff. What do you mean by switch through your items? It's the same way it was in World. And about the size of monsters, I can't confirm anything, since we haven't seen the final game yet... but World monsters were indeed a lot bigger compared to previous games, most of the times. In generall, the monsters found in the New World are bigger than the ones in the Old World. Not sure if this "trend" will continue in Rise, or maybe it has a lore reason for that. The only exception I can think of, is Rajang, which used to be huge and in the New World is pretty small. But with the way how fast Rajang is, there was no way they would keep it as big as it used to be, especially in the first games.
